What differs for TESCO consumers
- National ENC portal
- Serves TESCO. You can complete this on enc.com.pk without visiting an office.
- TESCO helpline
- 091-9213757
- Service area
- Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Kurram, North Waziristan, South Waziristan
- What that means locally
- TESCO is the newest DISCO, created to serve the former FATA tribal districts — Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Kurram, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan — where the electricity distribution network is still being extended and formalized in many areas, so new-connection infrastructure work (poles, transformers, feeder extensions) tends to involve more ground-up build-out than in DISCOs with a long-established grid.
The documents, fees and stage-by-stage flow are set nationally and are the same for every DISCO — they are written up once on the change-application process page rather than repeated here.
TESCOChange Application — Name, Tariff & Load
Changing the name, tariff, or sanctioned load on an existing TESCO meter goes through the same change-application workflow used nationwide, minus the pole-and-cable survey in most name/tariff cases. TESCO is the newest DISCO, created to serve the former FATA tribal districts — Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Kurram, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan — where the electricity distribution network is still being extended and formalized in many areas, so new-connection infrastructure work (poles, transformers, feeder extensions) tends to involve more ground-up build-out than in DISCOs with a long-established grid.
Which Change Application Do You Actually Need?
TESCO runs three separate change-application tracks, and each carries its own documents, fee structure, and timeline. Applying under the wrong one wastes weeks rather than saving them — work out which one matches your situation before you touch the form.
Change of Name — Ownership Transfer
15–30 working daysThis moves the meter's registered name from a previous owner to you. It's needed after a property purchase, an inheritance, a gift transfer, or any other legal change of ownership. TESCO's billing records have to match the current ownership paperwork before a change goes through, and any dues still outstanding under the old owner's name must be cleared first — that part isn't negotiable.
You need this when:
- You bought a property and the meter still carries the seller's name
- The registered owner has passed away and the property was inherited
- Ownership changed through a gift deed or a court order
Change of Tariff — Category Switch
10–20 working daysA tariff change updates the billing category — most often domestic to commercial when a business starts operating out of the premises, or the reverse when it closes. The category sets your per-unit rate directly, so billing under the wrong one is treated by TESCO as an irregularity that can trigger retrospective adjustments, fines, or disconnection. If how you're using the connection has genuinely changed, get the paperwork in early rather than after an inspection flags it.
You need this when:
- A shop, clinic, or salon is now operating from what was a residential meter
- Your property switched from commercial to purely residential use
- A registered business at the address has shut down
Change of Load — Enhancement or Reduction
30–60 working daysEvery TESCO meter carries an approved kW ceiling — 5 kW, 10 kW, 25 kW, whatever was sanctioned at connection. Adding equipment that pushes past it — industrial air conditioning, machinery, heavy refrigeration, welding gear — means applying for enhancement before you switch it on. Running over the sanctioned limit causes repeated tripping, damages equipment over time, and if an inspection catches it, brings a fine and a forced reduction. Load reduction runs the same process in reverse and lowers your security deposit.
You need this when:
- You're bringing in industrial or heavy commercial equipment
- The connection trips repeatedly even without an obvious overload
- You want the sanctioned load reduced to cut the security deposit

How to Submit Your TESCO Change Application — Step by Step
All three change types run through the same process, though the documents and fees at each step differ. Work through these in order — skipping a step, especially the document upload or the payment, is what stalls an application.
Step 1 — Confirm Which Application You Need
Match your situation against the three types above — name, tariff, or load. Genuinely unsure, especially where a sale and outstanding dues overlap? Call 091-9213757 before submitting anything. Picking the wrong category means cancelling and starting over, which costs days you don't get back.
Step 2 — Clear Whatever Is Outstanding
TESCO checks for unpaid bills on the meter before it reviews anything else. Unpaid dues are the single biggest reason change applications — name changes especially — stall or get rejected outright. Check the current balance on the latest bill or by calling the helpline, and settle it before or alongside submitting.
Step 3 — Assemble the Documents
Pull together whatever your application type requires (see the table further down). CNIC attestation trips people up most — self-attested or unstamped copies get bounced. Name changes need ownership transfer papers that clearly establish legal title; load changes need a report from a WAPDA-licensed wiring contractor.
Step 4 — File the Application Online
Log in to the TESCO portal (link above), enter your existing meter or account reference number, and select the application type. Fill in every required field, attach the documents, and submit. Your Tracking ID arrives by SMS on your registered mobile — save it somewhere you won't lose it.
Step 5 — Verification, and a Survey if Needed
Name and tariff changes go through document verification, usually 5–15 working days. Load enhancement adds a field survey — an engineer checks whether the existing cabling, service line, and area transformer can take the higher load. The visit isn't always announced in advance, so keep someone at the property and the relevant area clear.
Step 6 — Pay the Demand Notice
Once verification is done, TESCO issues a Demand Notice covering whatever's chargeable — the processing fee, infrastructure upgrades for load work, or a security deposit adjustment. Print it, pay at a listed bank, and upload the receipt the same day. Name and load changes usually carry a fee; a straightforward tariff switch sometimes doesn't.
Step 7 — The Change Takes Effect
Once payment clears, TESCO updates the billing system. Load enhancement may involve a crew visit to upgrade cabling, the CT meter, or fuse capacity. Your next bill should reflect the new name, tariff, or load — if it doesn't, call the helpline the same day that bill arrives. Corrections get harder to push through the longer they sit.
Outstanding Dues — The Change Application Blocker
TESCO won't touch a name-change application while the meter carries any unpaid balance — that includes the current month's bill, reconnection charges, and penalty amounts. Check the balance on the latest bill, pay off whatever's outstanding, and keep the receipts. Even after paying online, allow 2–3 banking days for it to register in the TESCO system before you submit the change application.
Required Documents by Change Type
Cross-check this table against your paperwork before you submit. For every type, bring the originals along with attested copies in case an office visit is required.
| Document | Name Change | Tariff Change | Load Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Applicant's attested CNIC copy | |||
| Latest electricity bill copy | |||
| Witness attested CNIC copy | — | — | |
| Property transfer deed / sale deed | — | — | |
| Court succession certificate (inheritance) | If applicable | — | — |
| Current owner's CNIC or NOC | — | — | |
| Business registration (SECP/FBR) | — | — | |
| Affidavit of business closure (residential reversal) | — | If applicable | — |
| Wiring contractor test report | — | — | |
| Load assessment certificate (licensed contractor) | — | — |
Realistic Timelines — What to Expect
How long a change application takes depends on the type, how complete your documents are, and how fast you respond at each checkpoint. Here's an honest breakdown:
Change of Name
15–30 working days
Slow factors: Missing property transfer docs, outstanding dues
Fast factors: Clean documents, zero outstanding bills
Change of Tariff
10–20 working days
Slow factors: Conflicting evidence of usage type
Fast factors: Clear documentary proof of business/domestic status
Change of Load
30–60 working days
Slow factors: Survey delays, low transformer capacity area
Fast factors: Prompt DN payment, accessible property

Common questions from TESCO consumers about change applications, answered plainly.
How do I change the name on a TESCO electricity meter?+
Submit an online change-of-name application through the official portal, entering the current account details alongside the new owner's information. Attach the new owner's CNIC, the property transfer documents, and either the previous account holder's CNIC or a No Objection Certificate. TESCO reviews the documents, may schedule a site visit, and then issues a Demand Notice for the applicable fee. The name updates in the billing system once that fee is paid.
What documents does TESCO ask for on a change-of-name application?+
Expect to provide: (1) an attested CNIC copy for the new owner, (2) proof of the ownership transfer — a sale deed, gift deed, or succession certificate for inherited property, (3) either the previous holder's attested CNIC or an NOC releasing the account, (4) a copy of the meter's most recent TESCO bill, and (5) an attested CNIC copy from a witness.
What counts as load enhancement with TESCO, and how do I request it?+
Load enhancement raises the sanctioned kW ceiling on a connection you already have — going from 5 kW to 10 kW, say, after adding a large air conditioner or a piece of business equipment. Apply by selecting "Change of Load" on the application form. TESCO sends someone to check whether the local transformer and cabling can carry the extra load, then issues a Demand Notice for whatever upgrades are needed before the higher limit takes effect.
How long does a TESCO change application take?+
It depends on the type. Name changes run 15–30 working days — document checks, a possible site visit, the Demand Notice, payment, then the system update. Load changes take longer, 30–60 days, because a technical survey and sometimes infrastructure work are involved. Tariff changes move fastest, 10–20 days, since they're mostly a paperwork check. Whatever the type, check status regularly with your Tracking ID rather than assuming no news is good news.
Does TESCO charge a fee to change the name on a meter?+
Yes — an administrative and processing fee applies, and the amount depends on the transfer type. A same-family transfer via succession certificate is usually cheaper than a commercial ownership change. Any arrears on the meter have to be cleared before the name change goes through, regardless of fee type. The exact figure appears on the Demand Notice once your documents have been checked.
