Industrial TOU & Solar Alignment
How industrial time-of-use blocks and demand charges line up — or don't — against a typical solar generation curve.

TOU and the solar curve
An industrial TOU meter prices peak, shoulder, and off-peak blocks differently. Solar output tends to sit mostly in the midday shoulder or off-peak window rather than the evening peak block, which is often when factories are still running full load.
Battery storage or shifting production schedules can pull more value out of the expensive TOU blocks, but both come with real capital and upkeep costs that need to be weighed against the savings they'd actually produce.
Practical takeaway
Model industrial solar economics against your own tariff schedule and demand history. A generic rupee-per-kWh estimate will miss exactly the detail — the TOU mismatch — that determines whether the investment pays off on schedule.
